As a Leo nominated Actor, James is known for the supporting role of Frank Jr. across two Seasons of The Chicken Sisters, along with recurring roles as Don on Netflix’s Virgin River, Dr. Tommy Madden in Hallmark's Ruby Herring Mysteries and Agent Neil McNeil in DC's Legends of Tomorrow for the CW. Other extensive credits include: ABC's The Good Doctor, CBS' The Twilight Zone, and CW's Supergirl, Supernatural, & Batwoman. You can also hear James voice ‘Kurt Baratier’ in the animated series Beyblade Burst.

As an Acting Coach in Vancouver for over 15 years, James holds a degree in Acting from the University of Victoria (BFA - Honours). His professional training includes work with Larry Moss, Stuart Rogers (LA), Carol Fox Prescott (NYC), Ben Immanuel, and Andrew McIlroy. James was the Lead Instructor for Andrew McIlroy for 10 years before opening King & Kot Creative Studios in 2021. James has been a Guest Instructor at Capilano University, the Canadian College of Performing Arts (Victoria), and taught in the Acting Program at the Vancouver Film School for 5 years.

Alongside his wife and creative partner, Beatrice King, James produced the award-winning short film, You Are the Blue. The film premiered at the Oscar-qualifying Edmonton International Film Festival and went on to complete an International festival run, including being selected for the Diversity in Cannes Short Film Showcase sponsored by Viola Davis’ production company. The film was also nominated for four Leo Awards.

James believes that actors must endeavor to understand themselves, and develop their interest in our shared humanity. With an empathetic view, optimal acting can take place without prejudice and judgement in even the extremes of human behavior. James subscribes to a 'tools not rules' approach, and believes each character is an open door for new exercises and methodology. Exploration with joy and presence are guiding principles. Acting should be fun!
